9. poetic interlude: a collection of recent poetry by tbird

Writer: thompson (tbird) bishopthompson (tbird) bishop

poetry from the heart

People gather around a bright campfire in a forest at night. Tall trees surround them, illuminated by the warm firelight.
calling in the new year

in the end

was only silence

but they stayed

listening to the falling snow

and leaves

and unborn places inside

later, when the dark had ebbed

and full night revealed wonders

the rare earth called

softly

many embers

but so few elders

remembered

dawn came like destiny

impacting the humans

in santified ways

glorious

and unrelenting

the change was evident

not just in their eyes

on their wind kissed faces

but in the restoried landscapes

where demons had roamed

now the sacred wolf,

lion,

willow

to turn again, and again

composting the frailty

the rage

the unrelenting build

is

the

dream

returning

they were standing in a purple meadow

quivering

bears in beauty

snow laid across the tufts, indescribable

hair, grass, moss, bough, hand holding pen

layers and rifts, eddies and bough piles

the wind made visible

made white

made bare

beauty

she fell into him, the turn subtle, fierce

an integral movement, transpersonal

self-emergent oneness

intimacy

and the thrill of coming apart

Lightning illuminates dark clouds over a silhouetted mountain landscape at night. The scene is dramatic and intense.
lighting on mountains

how to wake up dreaming

feel the borderland surface enclose

abstract

sheer

what I really want to say is that

life is not meant for surface diving

frameworks

ridgelines

invite yourself in

let the abscess of your confusion

eviscerate the comfortable abode

and be touched

be entered

be the temple

and the radiant-milky light within

Twilight mountain landscape with silhouettes of trees and a glowing horizon. A lone star is visible in the darkening sky. Peaceful mood.
sunrise approaches

at the corner

just beyond that one ragged cottonwood

I turned

askance,

I looked back

unsure of what I saw

but sure of my struggle

I wanted, so much

and that was the problem

the thread woven so deep

I wanted to unwind it

by refreshing it

again

and again

how I quit

was the title

to the song

I couldn't yetsing

because I hadn't given up

A small campfire burns on a dark night, surrounded by rocks and grass. A bottle with faint text sits nearby, creating a cozy mood.
vigil fire on 6th fast

i am writing the story of time

within the fabric of my being

moving this living wine

from winded stone

to hollowed bone...

again and again

to go so far

and no where

for undoing

Greetings readers.

Thanks so much for taking the time to follow along this year as I develop a blog about rites of passage, ceremony, and connecting to this wild earth. I would love to hear about anything which may have piqued your interest or touched your heart and anything else. Please feel free to reach out at info@alchemyofprana and say hi anytime. Also, we would love to have your help in getting our program offerings out there. We really believe that connection to nature is a human right that all people should have the right to enjoy. We have a dedicated pool of resources for scholarships to make that possible, as well as a growing gear library to support individuals as needed.

Check out our upcoming offerings for 2025 here: https://www.alchemyofprana.com/programs

In kindness and warm regards,

tbird and collfeatherz
